Swiss luger
I have ordered a Swiss 29 luger from Simpson. Haven't received it yet. It has a P preceding the serial number, but the luger is not a commercial. All numbers are matching. Is this a privatation mark? Gun is selling for $1895 in 95+ condition. Good buy or ? Help!!

Hi Bill,
I assume this is the Swiss M1929 luger you have on hold : http://www.simpsonltd.com/product_in...roducts_id=206 If the "P" were the same size as the size of the serial numbers, then I would agree it would be a commercial gun. Those "P's" also have a " . " (dot) after the "P" as well. The serial number on the top of the rear toggle should also have a "P", but above the full serial number. From what I can see on the Simpson photos, your "P" is large and a bit crooked...so I think yours is the privatization release stamping... I think $ 1750-1900 is a good price for a brown M1929 Bern luger... Regards, Pete... |

Thank you for your quick response . Appreciate the information .Assume the 1750-1900 range applies to one in 95% ? I have collected lugers for years but this is my first Swiss. IS THIS ADDICTIVE?
