Default Noted Luger Collector Died Yesterday

Mr. Alex Chauffe, Jr. a resident of Grosse Tete, Louisiana, a small community west of Baton Rouge, died on Sunday, November 6, 2005 at his home. For those of you who may not have known Alex, he was a major collector of Lugers as well as other types of firearms. When I was first priviledged to visit his home, I walked into his "gun room" and was totally amazed at the extensiveness of his collection. When he gave me the key to his Luger cabinets (plural) I was like a kid in a candy store. He said go on, pick up any one you want, take it out and look at it. It like opening the pages of Mr. Kenyon's book, the pistols becoming real. What a fantasy it was. I think he had to ask me to leave that day. I went back a few times since, but never did we go back into the room. I brought my Lugers for him to see one time and darn if he could tell me where I had bought some of them. Anyway, he will be missed and I ask your prayers for his family and friends. Services will be tomorrow.

Mike, I am sorry for the communities loss and for yours, as he sounded like a nice man.

Hi Ed,
He was a very nice man indeed, and will be missed by many. On the brighter side, I came across a Dutch Mauser Banner over the weekend. Pictures to follow tomorrow.
