Default Is this wood base original?

HI:

I got this magazine with a WWII holster. It is supposed to be a WWI vintage. The base is very rough wood and there are no markings on the base or body. I read that late war bottoms were poorly made. Any opinions on this base? It could even be homemade.

I would say not original, or ground down so bad that it is ruined.

The light colored wood base would appear to be one of Sarco's repros and by the fit in the tube, it is certainly not factory installed. TH
