Default Dwm

My friend and I have received a DWM Luger with serial number 6006. There are no letters after or under the serial number and I cannot find a date on the pistol

06 is also stamped everywhere on the pistol.

on the front strap is what I think is a unit mark, R.M.G.A.11.44. The R is in cursive for lack of better term.

It also has GESICHERT stamped on the left side when selector is in down position.

came with leather holster, what appears to be a fairly standard 4" barrel.

Any help with be great.

derekapex, are the series of proofs on the left or right side of the receiver? Does the P08 have a stock lug? Where on the side plate and takedown lever are the serial numbers 06 stamped?

Hi Ernie, You have a very collectible, unit marked, 1st Issue Luger manufactured in 1909. It was issued to a reserve regiment machine gun company. Unfortunately your pictures are too small for us to assess condition. We need larger, clearer, pictures, of both the gun and holster. Regards, Norm

It depends on what you are wanting to do; Simpson's offers a appraisel service, Tom Whiteman can too (my partner) www.legacy-collectables.com ; and we could clean it for you, although that is easy enough to do by yourself. When cleaning a gun, do less rather than more, use oil, take it apart minimally and wipe it down; don't get oil on the grips if you can help it, but if you take them off, be very careful.

If looking to sell it, both of the above offer that service too on a commission basis.

For picture uploading, you can do the album bit, but far easier for you and others to do the Manage Attachments button just a bit further down the page, and you can upload 10 at a time.

Ernie,

If that doesn't work your photos are too large.

Derek:
If you can provide pictures of acceptable quality, the members of this forumcan provide you with a reasonable estimate of the pistol's value.
As for cleaning the barrel - yes - you may do that. It will not hurt. Wipe the entire pistol down - inside and out - with a good grade of gun oil and protect it from rust.
