Default Artillery Luger Erfurt 1914

Hello , I am new to this forum and just bought an 1914 Erfurt Artillery Luger . Everything other than the magazine is matching, however there is no number on the toggle pin !? Should there be a number? The gun has been re-blued hot , all straw parts including . It looks like it has been reblued a long time ago .Is it possible it has been reblued in the WW 2 era ?
On the trigger guard is a crown over RC , which I read in your forum stands for Repartur Commission. Oerall condition is good , barrel inside is rough. How would I be able to tell it is an original Artillery ? I bought in a gunshop ( consignment) .The gentlemen want it $1250 , and got for
$ 1000. It came with repo stock and holster ( not so good quality ). It has a low serial number 34xx a.

I would appreciate any feedback on this question and your opinon on this buy.

Thanks ,
Guenter

Hi Guenter, We would really need to see photos to evaluate your gun, but $1,000.00 sounds cheap. As to that rear toggle pin, Erfurt pins were un-numbered, but they were stamped with the Army Test Proof, as in the photo. Regards, Norm

Default Photos of Artillery Luger 1914

Hi Norm,

attached are some photos of the Erfurt. My toggle pin does not have the proof mark. My bigger concern is if this luger started out as an artillery luger. I would appreciate any information.

Greetings,
Guenter

Hi Guenter, Assuming the front of the receiver has been bevelled to provide clearance for the tangent sight (not visible in your photos), I'd say it's a legitimate Erfurt Artillery. As you said, it's had an old re-blue, but Erfurt Artilleries are hard to find in any condition. I'd say you did OK. Regards, Norm
