N 1036 P 08 by V.E.B.-Thalmann has new home
This one was the subject of the post:
http://luger.gunboards.com/showthrea...erial-question The OP really wanted a luger for shooting and decided that this one was too "special", so he allowed me to become its new guardian! It has now found a home here with two of its "Vopo" reworked brothers(or sisters)! These "Special Production" new made pistols were completed in 1953 as an attempt or precursor to manufacture of the complete P 08 from "scratch" , instead of reworking of existing pistols from WWI and II. Note that this luger variant has neither lanyard loop nor stock lug. 100 or fewer were made. As with most of these observed it has had a replacement part or two, in this case the main replacement is a DWM made breech block. Thus the pistol has the eagle/crown/U rework proof of Suhl in addition to the Crown/N of its original production. The magazine seems to have Vopo style/size numbers, it is a scrubbed E/63 base and a body I have not seen, but looks to not have been messed with since the base was added. Does anyone have a picture of a "N" marked magazine? Of course magazines are easily mixed, especially during the long post 1953 history of this pistol and its subsequent import by Century Arms(likely early 1990s). I have noted the serials below from "Police Lugers" and this forum; if anyone has additional serial numbers to add, please do so. Observed with "N" prefix: 1008,1009,1030,1036,1095 With no prefix: 54, 55, 71, 72, 372, and perhaps 3798(way out of sequence)
