Where to shop? any suggestions?
Hi guys, I'm hunting for my first P 08. Hopefully a decent WW1 shooter for less than $600. Is this about what I should expect to pay? Maybe you guys could suggest some places to look. I've subscribed to Ralph's list, but would appreciate any advice on shopping for my first Luger.
Thanks |

Hello CH;
Subscribing to Ralphs list is a good move, as is going to any of the links on the left under Links and Resources. Simpsons has a wide range of Lugers for sale, although they haven't updated their webpage in a couple of months, give either of the two a call with your wants. Going to gunshops is a hit and miss, but it doesn't hurt to do that, as is going to gun shows. Usually there are several Lugers and sometimes 10 or more, depending on the dealers there. A shooter Luger should cost anywhere from $350 to $600, so your guess is a good one. Put in a "wanted ad" here on the forum, and every now and then one of these guys is culling out a gun. Best of luck and welcome to the forum! <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

Hello Patrick (aka CH...),
You could also keep an eye on Gunsamerica.com. Lots of shooter grade lugers offered there most of the time. Do not discount any local gun shows...and one of the "big" guns shows per year works for me as well. Once a month I also make a circuit of local gun shops (carrying antiques) and pawn shops. It seems like lots of WWII and Korean veterans are giving up some guns they have been holding for years. Good luck chasing down your first luger. Be sure and post photos when you get yours home !!! |

You can also find them at the gunbroker.com auction site, in the Curios & Relics section. Go to http://www.gunbroker.com/auction/Bro...age=1&Items=50 and use the keyword "Luger" to search the Curios & Relics auctions. You'll find a bunch of 'em.
