Damage to Shooter?
I have a 1917 DWM that I shoot a lot -- maybe too much. I've noticed some distortion on the receiver ears -- there's a "lip" that has formed where the toggle strikes the end of the ears. It's where the edges of the ears act to push the toggle up and unlock the action. The damage is minute, just a little distortion on the edge of the receiver where it's been mushed out of shape, but I wonder if anyone has encountered it before and if gun is still serviceable? Thanks guys, as always!

Re: Damage to Shooter?
Don,
I think that you might look to reducing the load that you are shooting. Some loads that are advertised as OK are at times too rough on these old weapons. It would be wise to stone and polish the points of wear to a mirror finish and lubricate these points with a high pressuure grease every ten or so shots. This may help with the galling action of opening the toggle. ViggoG |

You also might want to get a set of Wolf Springs. They don't cost very much and are not hard to change out ummm well all but the mainspring that's a BIG pain in the *** but it can be done with out with a little bit of determination.
