Default The Passing of Les Center AKA Dok

I got notification about this through one of my clients Steve Zigman. It was spotted by friend of Dok on his Facebook page. I dont know many details but we are inquiring now to find out. We dont know if this was health problems related, or an accident, etc. Here is what we got from Joel, dont know relationships.

Steve Zigman Steve, I’m sure the family will be releasing more details. Don’t feel it’s my place to do that at this time. His eldest son, Brian Center Will Release more information.

So we await more info from Brian.

Les was a true cratsman making this excellent case to house a Baby I had built along with Jerry Burneys excellent custom hardshell.
I also did this Thor TDJ for him made from a scratched up VOPO Luger. Glad I crossed paths with him. A unique individual for sure.

This was Dok's website where he showed his work. WOW, they were nice. He also made the case for the 2005 American Pistolsmith's Guild Baby Luger, a bunch of us worked on that one.

Default Sad news....

I am shocked and sad to hear this news! Doc was a craftsman and a true gentleman. I touched bases with him from time to time over the years, and was unaware of any issues, health or otherwise... My prayers and sympathies go out to his family. Sad day for us all here on the forum he will be missed... best to all, til...lat'r....GT

Ok, Steve Zingman got the scoop on what happened to our friend, it was a motor cycle accident. Here's what he got from Les's son Brian.

"Hi Steve, this Les’ son Brian. My Dad was in a bike accident on his Birthday last Thursday. The doctors believe he had a stroke which led to the accident. He was found unconscious and had a fractured skull and bleeding on his brain. While in the coma he also started experiencing seizures. He never regained consciousness and his heart stopped Tuesday morning. We are planning to have his funeral on Saturday the 28th of December

Thank you for those kind words Steve, I will definitely pass on your best wishes to Jeanne. Yes absolutely please share the news with the Luger Forum. He will be sorely missed by many❤️"

That is a shame - and the average person won't know Dok, as he wandered away from here, but he was one of the first admins / moderators on the forum - I knew him a bit and he was truely a very nice guy.

RIP Dok

I agree with everyone, Mr. Center was a true craftsman. I really wish I could have had one of his cases, they were works of art! RIP

I just had an email exchange with his widow Jeanne. How very sad.

“Dok” and I had known each other for about 20 years through the Lugerforum.com.

He was the original website Administrator for the forum providing much needed tech support for the forum owner (John D). He held the gavel and set most of the rules which made this forum the friendly place it became and remained. He passed the gavel to me about 18 years ago when he told us he could no longer invest the time.

We have been in touch many times over the years. He visited with me and we had lunch outside of Washington DC once or twice while he was in the area. He always told me I had an open invitation to visit in Bermuda, but alas, it never came to pass.

Like many of the old members I shall miss him!
