LP Telescopic Sight
Apart from looking for an authentic lanyard, there´s another item that I haven´t seen in the last few years. Not even the gun shows here have come up with a Luger telescopic sight. They used to be quite common. Bender has pre-war adverts for them. How were they mounted? Patrick

Re: LP Telescopic Sight
The only picture I have ever seen with a telecopic sight on a luger was a very poor picture, but the mount was screwed into drilled and tapped holes on the large flat area behind the sideplate on the left side, and was offset to the left
IMHO this is the only practical mounting position, unless it is mounted far forward of the chamber and is a long eye-relief scope. If mounted in place of a grip panel (much like some colt 1911's) it would interfere with the toggle/loading procedure. While the long eye-relief type scope mounted on the barrel would seem to be aesthetically acceptable, I doubt that the scope would survive the constant g-forces imposed by the movement of the toggle & barrel extension. just my $0.02, -John |

Re: LP Telescopic Sight
I remember seeing it, but the old site is dead now. Does anyone have that pic in their possession? It was of an LP-08 that had a 16" barrel, shoulder stock and trommelmagazine. for that matter does anyone have good pictures of ANY scoped Luger that they can post?

Re: LP Telescopic Sight
I´ll try and scan it from Kenyon. It wasn´t that long ago that they were being sold at most of the gun shows here - and not all that expensive. Patrick

Re: LP Telescopic Sight
John, The only scoped LPO8 that I've seen had a Mauser rifle ZF41 long eye relief 1 1/2 power scope mounted in the normal rear sight dove tail cut on a modified mount. Not very effective with the barrel moving during recoil.

Re: LP Telescopic Sight
I seem to remember a very slim telescope mounted on the left. Patrick

Hey Dok, somewhere among the photos on the old website
was a photo of a 16" luger with trommelmag, artillery stock, and a mounted telescope. It was a fuzzy photo that must have been scanned out of an old magazine or book because you can't see a lot of detail. I thought I had it among my downloads, but I don't. If you find it could you put it in the Unsorted Photos please,
Thanks, John |
