Hugh's 30 Luger Long Barrel
This dude is sporting an 8" barrel and a big amount of UNIQUE powder will boost that 60 grain HP to light speed. The bullet was designed to operate at 700-800 fps in a 32 Auto I think so at 1400 fps it should come unglued with explosive force. I will have to test it out for accuracy next week. I have the Luger blued and will be finishing it up tomorrow or Tuesday. Hugh has sized these bullets to .3095". Full report in a view days. I will be shooting the Winchester 30 Luger cases I bought from OWS (Old Western Scrounger) ~Thor~

Re: Hugh's 30 Luger Long Barrel
Hi Ted,
I once used 95 grain JHP bullets designed for use in .38 Special ammunition, and to open up at 800 fps, to load some .357 Magnum cartridges. At 1600 fps the angular momentum would cause these bullets to literally come apart in mid air. At ten yards, each shot would leave a nice bullet hole in a paper target - and each bullet hole would be surrounded by a circle of tiny fragment holes. At twenty-five yards there wouldn't be a mark on the target anywhere. Sometimes too much velocity is not a good thing! Re: Hugh's 30 Luger Long Barrel
Kyrie, I dont doubt it one bit! I once had some SX Hornaday bullets do the same thing in mid air, they left little gray tracer trails as they came apart. Hugh has fired these 30 Luger bullets at these speeds so I think they will work well. I will report any keyholing or fragmenting as evident by the paper targets. ~thor~
