Luger experts, input please.
A co-worker of mine has asked my to find out any info I can on his Luger so obviously this is the first place I thought of:
Any info is certainly welcome. I did notice that it looks like it might have been reblued, the finish is way too brand new looking to be original. Supposedly it was a bringback by his father in law. |

A highly polished, buffed and reblued pistol. The side plate either does not match, (perhaps a commercial sideplate or has been so buffed that any number has been removed).
A nice shooter but not a collector's piece. |

and the color, when its been sanded too smoothly its gets this highly shiny look to it.
But I have a bring back that I bought as a shooter, wasn't till I got back from Iraq and looked at it that I realized it had been brought back, had bring back papers and the dad just had it refinished. Still a bring back and its nice addition to my collection.

Many Vet's had their "bring-backs" refinished... some blued, some nickeled, and (Gasp!) some chromed... they had no idea of the future value of their Luger or other war trophy pistol... These guns are what they are... a piece of history, albeit improperly cared for, or preserved... they make great shooters...
