Default unusual navy holsters in picture ?

in a recently completed auction on ebay - no association ...
eBay item number:
360834308545

http://www.ebay.com/itm/360834308545...84.m1423.l2649

note that the luger holster/stock configurations on the three guys in picture look kind of like 6" navy holster but with magazine pouch located where the typical cleaning rod is located - and stocks look long for the holster length

also the closure tab seems anchored on left side of holster at an angle that then engages the stock overstrap on the holster

picture back has 1914 date and maybe these are german red cross troops - apparently not land marines

so if true this would be applicable to the pre WW1 navy issue luger it seems - ie lugers not dated 1916 or 1917

anybody know is this holster a known type ?
I dont recall seeing it in any of the various luger books

thanks
Bill

They look like P08 holsters, attached to artillery stocks, suggesting that they were carrying standard P08 pistols (with stock lugs) in combination with stocks. Interesting, and an idea that was also used in Finland.

Vlim,
thanks for commenting !!! - on another look it does seem plausible these are modified P08 holsters

The dead horses suggest that perhaps they are what we would call 'veterinary troops'...The German Army was almost all horse drawn...[WAG]...
