Reloading 7.63 mauser
Looking for information about reloading 7.63 mauser for C96 using soft point bullets. Anyone have experience with this? or know of a workable load? And have source of soft point bullets?
Thanks, John |

C-96 Reloading
Hi:
FYI there is a full site on the Mauser C-96. You may wish to use your search engine and find the site. It covers the 7.63, 9mm and .45 cal models in detail, complete with load suggestions. Sieger |

Midway and Graf & Sons have Hornady 96 gr SP bullets for the 30 Mauser. A load of 4.2 gr Winchester W231 with this bullet works great in my gun.

Thanks Sieger and Hugh,
On the Hornady website I could not find a 96 gr SP bullet for the 30 Mauser. They now list a 30 cal 90 gr hollow pt XTP . On the sierra website there is .308 cal 85 gr sportmaster bullet. Does anybody have experience with these bullets? And Hugh, is there any other source for that Hornady 96 gr that you like? John |

John,
sorry about the missprint, that should have been 93 gr NOT 96 gr. They were a special run of bullets for the 30 Luger, Hornady product #1440, Hornady also made a special run of 30 Mauser 86 gr SP, Hornady product #1522. Apparantly both Midway & Graff have sold out. Old Western Scrounger may still have some, ows-ammo.com but I can't access their website at present. Huntingtons still has some of the 86 gr mauser bullets "for sale until the supply is exhausted" here: http://www.huntingtons.com/bullets_hornadyspecial.html I would think that the 85gr or 90gr XTP or Gold Dot would work fine in the 30 Mauser. I use them in the 30 Luger.

I use 6gr of Unique with the 85gr round nose from Sierra (#8005). Feeds and cycles without a hitch.
www.northwest-denture.com/mauser1896 is another very good site with lots of information. Steve |
