Military records?
I am brand new to this group and have enjoyed what I've seen. I purchased a 1940 Mauser made (42 on the toggle). suffix "d". I have wondered if there are any military records to try to get some history on this pistol? Does anything like that exist? If so, where might I look? I assume there were records at one time but thought they might have been lost after the war.

Bill, welcome to the forum. This has been asked a couple of times, not that I know where! No, there is no records available, even when there were, they'd be unit records.
The few places you find luger info is in personnel paperwork, the individual soldier would have a book that might have their luger listed. To find this is about 300% rarer than finding the same serial number magazine for your luger... ED

Re: records - Thanks
I figured the odds for finding records were low. Thanks so much for the information.
