East German TT33
Guys,
Any info on this? Iâ??ve just purchased an unisued East German TT33, the pistol is in stunning unissued condition with the East German Hammer and wheat stalk grips that has a 5 pointed star with rays above it surrounded by a wreath. (unfired condition) The serial number is DC 0986 with an 01 53 date code on the left frame, the slide is also marked DC 0986 on the top near the rear sight. The barrel is marked 0986 with two matched mags numbered 0986 on the bottom plate. The cleaning rod and some small parts are marked 02. The brown holster has an ink stamp in the flap which canâ??t be distinguished (poor stamp) No other marking on the gun other than a letter in a circle next to the 02 stamp on the slide release, no import markings. Dieter Marschall on page 17 of his book mentions â??fineâ? and â??coarseâ? slide serrations, I would consider these â??fineâ?. He also says the Soviet guns were taken out of circulation and replaced by the Makarov in 1967-1970. The references are on pages 17, 40, 49 and 61 of his book but not many details about EG produced TT33â??s or a photo of one. Does any else have one of these guns or can provide me with more information? I will post some photos when I get a chance but Iâ??d like more information. I would think it was imported pre 1968? This is a very odd/new area of collecting so I donâ??t think many guys really know the answers. It is a â??brave new worldâ? when it comes to East German stuff, thatâ??s why I like it! Oh, I forgot to mention â?¦ I paid $375 for the rig at auction with a 15% buyers premium, I was prepared to go much higher for this unique pistol. Thanks guys â?¦ Mark |
