Default Unit markings

I recently receive a matching 1917 Erfurt #9273d in for a trigger job. It has both a WW1 unit marking "S.C.I.R." which is lined-out and I haven't seen before (any ideas?) and replaced the S.Ka.I.482. for the Kassel Schutzpolizei. My best guess on the former marking is that it might be some type of Saxon Infantry unit. TH

Hi Tom,

S.C.I.R. is the earlier mark for "Schutzpolizei Cassel Ist District Revier". Later revised to S.Ka.I. I don't presently recall the translation for Revier. However, C and K were both used at different times for Kassel. And also for "Company" in Imperial Army markings.

I'm treading in Don Maus' territory, so I'll shut up now...

Ron

Pat et al, The camera is not a problem. It's too difficult to use one with my Webtv, so I guess that I ought to get busy and hook up the PC that I bought months ago. TH

Ron, you done good! The only thing I would add is that the R stands for Revierpolizei (Precinct Police).

Tom, could you provide a bit more detail for my database? Does or did the gun have sear or mag safeties? Was there a weapon number associated with the lined-out marking S.C.I.R.?
