Need a date of manufacture
Hello, I just got my first Luger, an Alphabet Commerical (I think) in .30 cal. it actually looks a lot like the one pictured a couple posts below. Anyhow, I am wondering if there is some database that matches S/Ns with dates of manufacture for Lugers. (I haven't been able to find one.) If not, can someone tell me for sure the date of manufacture of S/N 8816m. thanks

Hi Jay,
Your gun was manufactured in late 1923 or 1924. Probably 1924 because of the high S#. Mike C.

Jay,
You'll find a table relating serial numbers of Alphabet Commercials to dates in Jan Still's book, Weimar Lugers. --Dwight |

Juha, yours was manufactured in 1923 (assuming the suffix is lower-case "L").
