Friday, August 3, 2007 Charges Filed After Boy, 13, Allegedly Towed Down Road In The Dark On Plywood â??Sledâ?? By: By BILL JONES/Staff Writer Source: The Greeneville Sun 08-03-2007 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Two Midway residents were charged with reckless endangerment on Thursday night after a car driven by one of them allegedly towed a 13-year-old boy on a makeshift sled behind a car on a county road. A report and arrest warrants filed by Deputy Sheriff Adam Arrington said he was parked on the lot of the DTR Tennessee plant on Pottertown Road when he saw a white Dodge Shadow automobile pass by towing behind it a person (who was later determined to be the 13-year-old boy) â??on a piece of plywood.â? The youth escaped injury in the incident, officers said. The makeshift sled, according to Deputy Arringtonâ??s report, was attached to the rear of the car with a â??tow strap.â? Deputy Arrington reported that, as he was attempting to stop the car, which did not have its headlights on despite the darkness, the vehicle turned into a private driveway at 300 Pottertown Road. When Deputy Arrington reached the car, according to a report and arrest warrant, he found its driver to be Benjamin R. Bostic, 36, of 300 Pottertown Road. Bostic, according to arrest warrants, was charged with reckless endangerment and DUI. He also was cited for having an expired license plate and violating the financial responsibility law. Bond for Benjamin Bostic was set at $2,000. He was scheduled to make an initial appearance on the charges in General Sessions Court today. Second Person Charged Another arrest warrant indicated that a Deputy Arrington also charged Angela Randolph Bostic, 42, of 300 Pottertown Road, with reckless endangerment in connection with the Thursday night incident. A criminal summons filed against her alleged that she had been â??in charge of the 13-year-old boyâ? whom Benjamin Bostic towed down Pottertown Road on the makeshift sled behind a car. The summons said the 13-year-old boy is the nephew of Angela Bostic. Angela Bostic also was summoned to appear in General Sessions Court on Aug. 3, according to the criminal summons. << Print This Page >>
