Just Joined...Hello to all!
Hello everyone,
Just joined the Luger forum and am just fascinated by the information and the knowledge of all the collectors who post here. I jumped in and bought my first Luger about 3 weeks ago at the OGCA show in Wilmington, OH. It's a matching byf 42 (except the magazine) and I thought I would post some pics for folks to see. I do have one question for those that can help me. I would like to know how to tell if the grips are original. I've taken them off and can see no markings other than what I think is the letter "V" on one of the grips. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Regards, M.D. |

What a wonderful rifle collection you have! Nice looking P08, but clinging to what I've read in books I'm a bit confused by it. There's no P.08 marking on the side of the frame? I learned all byf coded 08 should have that mark? Can it be that there're exceptions?

Looks to me, in the first picture there is a P.08 stamped on the left
side under the toggle. Kind of hard to see... |

Better Photo...
Thanks for the replies. To answer the question, there is a very lightly struck P.08 marking just below the toggle as mentioned by Tharpo. Maybe a second photo will help.
