Default What's a ground stock lug worth?

I'm sure this has probably been asked before, but I didn't find the answer...

How much does having the stock lug ground detract from the value? I've been looking at a very nice, 95% plus, matching, bakalite grips, 41 dated byf. The only problem is that the stock lug has been ground. So the question is, what's it worth, and how much value did it lose when someone ground the lug?

I appreciate all opinions!!!!

Thanks!!

It kills any collector value, all thing equal, say a mint $2,800 collectable gun would in my estimation be a $1,000 high end shooter.....just my 2 cents

As Howard says, it no longer has collector value. It is altered from it's original configuration. Collectable Lugers have to be original right down to the finish, unless the alteration was a period arsenal rebuild ,etc. Even then the value will or can be effected to an extent.

A wise person once told me that "a gun is worth what you can get for it in three days." In my experience this is a valid assessment.

I don't think you would get Howard's estimate in three days. Frankly, if the grips are original you could probably get more than $250 for them, and close to that for a good magazine. This is probably what somebody would buy it to get. The parts, in really good shape, might be worth something.

With a ground stock lug, this gun is just another $600 shooter.

I agree, taking into account a few exceptions;

1: "rarer" guns

2: HP police

3: a persons desire to fill a hole in their collection for a particular model or variation
