Default My first Luger

Hi !

I´m a total newbie around P08:s. However, I bought one to have as a shooter and just wondering what I have...

It has all matching numbers but has a 5" barrel (12cm). That might be of a later date? History?

Posting some pictures as well.

Best Regards

TAC,

Your statement is correct for Military Lugers to the best of my knowledge, but I believe that 5" barrels ( as well as other lengths...were available special order from places like Pacific Arms in the USA, but that would have been only on Commercial guns and this gun is marked in the military style. Special order barrels may have been added by USA distributors after the guns arrived in the USA... so "Factory original" can be misunderstood by some.

I think that the gun is from Finland. What I have heard so did they mount new barrels after the war from 7,65 to 9mm and used them for sporting purposes.

Well...I did´t pay much for it and it is truly the best shooting gun I have ever tried. The groups are really tight. The 5" barrel is a good thing as well.

Regards

5 inch barrels are common on Finn lugers, with tikka barrels.

Magnus, wlecome to the forum. A full right, a full left and top pictue would be good.

Please host pictures here on this forum, so members do not have to visit a non-forum site to see the pictures.

The barrel and front sight DO look like Finnish aftermarket products. You are probably right.

There looks to be an Eagle/N proof along the left side receiver and possibly on the left side of the breechblock.

That proof was in use in Germany for commercial proofing around/after April 1940 or so...

The smooth toggle knobs don't appear to be of German, though.
It also has an old style sear bar.

Nice gun with a multinational attitude, it appears to share German, Finnish and Swiss blood.
