Default Bart, Another thing to beware of...... :(

there are probably more fake Black Widow grips out there than original ones, some of them quite good.

Default Originals...

Hugh, I have been told you can tell an original by the "threaded hole" on the back of the grips. Do you agree? Is there any other way of identifying originals?

We have talked a lot on this subject! I think a good search of the archives will demonstrate a lot of info on fake BW grips. I think the threaded hole theory holds water as I remember it, but be aware, there were some original late war Krieghoff Black plastic grips that wont take a grip screw, but the Mauser made ones do as I remember it! I posted some photos of three different pairs of orig BW grips a while back. There was a pair of Russian bakelites in the photos, too, if I remember correctly. The Russians are obvious. The next hardest to id are the Franzite replicas because they look like BW's on the front side. The back side is easy to distinguish. The toughest replicas to spot would have correct back sides but I haven't seen a pair myself.
