Default I know it's a little early to ask but...!

Just got a phone call from a good friend informing me about a Luger for sale.

Price was too good to pass up so I bought it sight unseen. No worries, my friend is well versed in firearms and knows what to look for even if he isn't a luger "expert". He can't buy it due to our weird laws up here in the Great White North as he was not grandfathered for this class of pistol.

It's a s/42, 1938 dated Luger. he is saying it is at 90% plus. C/w with a 1940 dated holster (I will be checking manufacturer tonight) with loading tool. Also comes with two mags, with one mag matching the pistol.

My questions are; how much more desireable is this pistol with the matching mag? Or not much value added becuase it isn't c/w two matching mags? Also, I see the term "matching rig" bandied about when a pistol like this ocmes with 2 mags and a holster dated the same year. Does the holster need to be dated the same year, or are these dates close enough? Is it a lot more desireable that pistol and holster have the same date?

I will try to get to the shop to take pics, as I wont be able to take possession of this for another month at least due the the gov't paperwork.

Thanks in advance,

Alamar

There will be more authoritative responses than mine but I've seen prices for matching mag Lugers and Lugers with matching holsters as much as double the price of the pistol alone. Nice find if you got it at an attractive price.
