Default Magazine catch spring

Removed the grips from my 1918 Erfurt
The Magazine Catch spring came loose before I had a chance to observe it carefully.
One end is squared off and the other is rounded

Which end properly goes under the catch and which under the frame?

What is the behavior if you get it wrong?

Phil,

The flat end goes into the frame above mag catch. There is a dimple or protrusion on the flat end ... if you check the frame, there is a matching depression that it fits into. If you get it wrong, it will likely fall out at an incovenient moment and you will be posting in the Wanted to Buy Forum for a replacement So make sure you put it back correctly

When reassembling, insert the round end into the magazine release...then rotate the square end with the dimple into the slot in the frame. You will need to depress the top (square) end to allow it to fit into the slot.

Default Jury rig part

It is obvious that the magazine catch spring I am working with is NOT a "proper" Part.
Someone tried to "Make do" with a piece of spring steel.
It does not fit properly and it is WAY TOO STIFF.

Where can I get a proper replacement.

I have e-mailed Tom Heller but have had no response.
Apparently; Either he missed the e-mail or he does not have the part.

Any other sources or should I Ping tom again?

Probably should ping Tom again. He most likely has a pocket full of those springs at any given time.

Look in the Wanted to buy. I moved your request to that area, and Tom has replied.
