police luger
I just bought a Mauser banner 1939 Luger. It has the Schiwy safety and eagle/L. The gun is in original finnish and close to mint. But there is a possible problem. The grip plates are not wood but "kunststoff" (bakelite). In one of my Luger books it is stated that all police Lugers made before 1942 were delivered with wood grips. Can anyone tell me if it is possible that my grips are correct? I like to think that the gun is original. If the gripplates are wrong, I would replace them with original wooden ones. Will a otherwise matching Luger like that be collectable with mismatch grips?

Re: police luger
If your grips happened to be original "Black Widow", I am sure you won"t have any trouble trading them for the correct wood grips.
