1906 luger? commercial?
I recently purchased a 9mm Luger which I think is a 1906 but I don't know if its commercial or military. It has a five digit serial number 589XX and does not say GERMANY. It has the "GESICHERT" marked saftey and N with crown. Other than that there isn't any other distinguishing marks, the DWM isn't colored in and has the 'checkered' grips.

Kevon,
Without pictures, kinda tough, but sounds like you have a 1906 commercial. These were made for commercial sales in Europe and not intended for export, so there will be no GERMANY stamp. It compares in specs to the 1906 American Eagle, but lacked appeal because of the absence of any chamber markings. There were approximately 4000 manufactured. However if your has a stock lug, you have a very rare Luger. BTW, the white DWM is always a personal add-on. Mike |

In the serial range mentioned, it could also be a M1908 commerical, if without grip safety. TH

Ya, it doesn't have the grip safety. Im not really a collector and want to trade for a more practical gun and wanted to get some opinions on 1908 commercial for a Sig p229, worth it? Not worth it?

Even if not in 90+% condition, some one should take you up on that offer. TH
