UNREAL! I can't believe I found this!
While digging through a old box of stuff I found a copy of The "PARABELLUN" automatic pistol booklet that I bought from Ralph Shattuck way back in 1971 while stationed in Alaska. What's even better I recorded in the back of it the first two Lugers I'd ever owned.
One from Ralph Shattuck, notes were (mine), Luger, 9mm, 4", 1920 Miliatry, s/n 4285b, simson proofed. (a rookie Luger owner) Second, from the "State Gun Shop" Ketchican, Ak. Notes, Luger, 1917 Erfurt, 9mm, 4",#2916 Paid, $175. Did not note what I paid Mr. Shattuck for the 1920. Funny, I always remembered it being a dbl.date. I wonder what the chance of finding and buying back those two Lugers? Anyone have a 1920 DWM 9mm numbered 4285b or a 1917 Erfurt 9mm numbered 2916 in their collections? I take the only way to try and find these is place a note here and over on Jan Still's forum. Only thing I know they were still in Alaska back in 1973. I know there would be a slim chance of ever finding them, then if I did, talk the owner into selling. I thought I'd NEVER know again what were the first Lugers I ever owned. |
