The operation, left eye cataract, was a success, but the patient ............... is still a grumpy old fart!

Maybe now I 'll be able to see those itty-bitty numbers on lugers, Ya think?

I expect that we're mostly all headed toward our own cataract surgery... My parents both had them removed... My mom was quite surprised at how the color of the world had changed!

The surgeon that invented the tool that is used for this operation was brilliant. When my grandfather had his surgery in 1960, he had to lay motionless on his back for more than a week after the operation. Today, you get to go home!

Of all the eye surgeries I've had ( a whole bunch!! ), the cataract removal was the easiest and least painful! Glad you came through it OK!

That is great news! It is amazing that after the surgery, you realize that trees have leaves! And green, is really GREEN! I'm happy for you... But, you'll still need glasses for the small numbers,... Or, just ignore them!

Ah, the color blue was never so vibrant. I won't try it for some time yet but headlight glare made night driving impossible.

So I sez to her " Which takes less energy, moving the toilet seat yourself or bitchin' about it for three hours." Ya see? There's a reason I'm single.....

Cataracts, especially nuclear sclerotic cataracts (very common type) actually have an amber cast to them. When it comes to light, amber "cancels" if you will, blue. With the cataract removed the color blue is much more vibrant. Blue light also causes a lot of glare, hence the use of yellow lenses by aviators, at least at one point in time. As far as headlight glare goes it may very well be that your ophthalmologist has you using some eye drops which dilate the pupil (the bottle would have a red top). This is very common early post-op. They keep the iris out of the way while the inside of the eye heals ... there are reasons for that, but a dilated pupil will cause lights to be very bright not to mention the fact that the cataract removal alone causes increased brightness. The great news is that generally speaking if any major complication are to occur they appear early post-op. So the first visit after surgery is very important. If your surgeon was pleased then chances you are "Coming out of the woods".

Fred, congradulations on a successful operation. My wife who has been sight impared most of her life had "cataract" surgery last year on both eyes primarily in order to fit her with prescription lenses. As soon as the first lense was installed she could read and see things while on the table. I got to watch the entire operation which was facinating. God love her she told me I was even better looking than she thought! Both her eyes have been operated on and she has 20/20 with build in sunglasses. It truely is a miracle.

Today was second post op. DR. is happy. I test at 20/25 uncorrected, with two more weeks of healing before they'll do lenses.
