Dwm 1915
Hello, new to this forum. Glad to find it. Im fascinated with the Luger and its heritage/history. I hope to learn much here.
I picked up what I believe is a commercial issue. Its been restored. All matched including the grips. Flaws include a missing lanyard ring and tiny chip by right grip screw. Magazine does not match and no holster. Did score though on some Swiss like brand new 1926 for 25.00 ea.! SN #6998 9mm/P What might be a value range? These are the only pics I have but can readily post more. I am Austrian and am very interested in ww1 and ww2 post and prewar as well as commercial production of lugers and other weapons. Thanks-Chinboogie\ ***MORE PICS ADDED**** Let me know if I have to disassemble-been a while. Last edited by Chinboogie; 05-28-2011 at 02:39 PM. |

Being Austrian, it is hard to say what a value would be for a restored gun, here in america, $600-$900, all depending on the buyer. Most collectors want an original not restored piece, however, some want a very nice looking piece or shooter, so it all depends on what the person is looking for.

Hi Mark,
The Luger is numbered in the military style and has what looks like military acceptance stamps and proofs on the right receiver (hard to tell from the photos). Why do you think it is a commercial?

I assume from the title of the thread that it has the date 1915 on the chamber. That and the miliitary acceptances and Imperial proof on the right side of the receiver make it a military-contract pistol. Welcome to the forum.

Move Thread to Military P08?
Thanks Don M. Good to know its a military. I assume this would appreciate the value some?
I would like to know a good book to buy to learn more. Any suggestions? Thanks-ChinB ETA: How to use LugerForum picture posting and how to add to original post Caption that shows and addition by the OP wo bumping the thread. I saw a movie-"30 Seconds Over Tokyo" and the Chinese commander that helped had a Luger. How might this be time possible or an anacronysm? |

The best book IMO is Jan Still's Central Powers Pistols. It has wonderful photos and a wealth of information.

LugerForum asks that you post any pics directly to the Forum. Pics linked from PhotoBucket, SmugMug, etc get lost or re-labeled over time and are then unavailable to Forum members. Our Search engine is quite good; but if a pic on another server has been deleted or is unavailable, it is lost for all time... (And posting your pics here makes Ed Tinker very happy) Quote:

SEE MY REPLIED IN CAPS
Good to know its a military. I assume this would appreciate the value some? YES, BUT NOT MUCH, SINCE IT IS RESTORED I would like to know a good book to buy to learn more. CENTRAL POWERS, AS SAID ABOVE IS A GOOD CHOICE FOR THIS TIME PERIOD GUN ETA: How to use LugerForum picture posting and how to add to original post Caption that shows and addition by the OP wo bumping the thread. IT ODESN'T BUMP THE THREAD IN THIS FORMAT; YOU CAN GO TO ADVANCED OPTIONS TO CHANGE THINGS, YOU MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO CHANGE THE TITLE ~~ HOW TO ADD PHOTOS IS EASY, THERE ARE THREADS AT THE TOP OF THE FORUMS THAT TELL HOW TO DO THIS AND LOTS OF THREADS ON THIS, TRY DOING SOME SEARCHES I saw a movie-"30 Seconds Over Tokyo" and the Chinese commander that helped had a Luger. How might this be time possible or an anacronysm? IT WAS A MOVIE, ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE
