One of those soldiers should toss her hat in the air, and see if she can hit it...

(It could only improve the hats' looks)

BTW: If you've seen pics of her image on the Olympic Shooting coin, she seems to be getting grumpier in her old age...I blame Camilla for that...

In fact, she is a WWII veteran: she served with the auxiliary troops in the home front, trained as a driver and mechanic. Can you imagine Her Majesty fixing a GMC truck carburator? WHat a scene!

sixty eight years ago today alot of men put their lives on the line to take the beachs of normandy. Many are still there buried under the soil they payed for with their lives. This young woman served and happened to become the queen of england. And she can damm sure wear any hat she wants to when she is not wearing the crown.

Just the sun falling on the corrugated treads of a spare tire....(note the bulge on the side of the cab to better accomodate it).

What's with the genius standing forward of the firing line?

She's quite a gal...

I think its the angle of the photo, (if you draw an imaginary line along the front edge of the shooting bench, you will see that the soldier is just behind it). The gun is also pretty well battened down.

Or perhaps he is there to chase down any of Her Majesty's wayward bullets?

Is it really firing??? I see smoke but no ejected shells...

The L85A1 ejection port is on the right side, above the magazine...I don't see any ear protection either...On any of them...

Maybe they took the pic right after she ran the magazine...

They certainly do not appear to be the cream of Her Majesty's troops!

I think that the "Queen Mum" is a cool, classy lady. Can you see Obama having his photo taken shooting even a bb gun?

The recoil would probably have him on the ground in short order if he tried!

I was in joint operations training in the early nineties with the royal marines and i do not think i have met any better trained and squared away soldiers than those. they took well to this old paratrooper and i became quite fond of them and as they say we became "mates" A few years ago when my daughter was in london , my mates of the royal marines took the time to escort my daughter and her friends around london and the surrounding area. Do to the kindness of these soldiers i had no doubt they were in good hands and well protected. they were allowed to tour parts of buckingham palace and the grounds under the escourt of my royal marine "mates" , something my daughter and her friends will never forget. I am still in contact with several of them as we have remained friends. The queens diamond jubilee celebration showed how much pride the uk has . the soldiers i trained with had never forgotten the debt they owned us, and being a decendant of one of the members of the paratroopers who sixty eight years ago today made the night jump into france as well as my self being a former paratrooper , i can well understand that pride.
