Default Jacketed or Plated?

I am concerned about bore wear in pistols that I shoot frequently. I was wondering whether plated bullets, rather than jacketed bullets, might cause less bore wear. I ordinarily use the 9mm Winchester 115 gr. hollow base bullets but the Rainier Ballistics 115 gr. plated bullets seem to work just as well. Advice?

I am not sure that I can help you, but the plating used in plated bullets is very thin and quite a bit softer then the standard FMJ jackets. If you are really concerned about your bores, you might want to switch over to lead (swaged or cast)bullets. I am using lead in my 30Luger reloads, and they are working better for me than the FMJ that I was using before.....Just a thought.

Karl:

Unless your Luger is already worn out, I certainly wouldn't worry about shooting FMJ ammo through it. I would, however, watchout for the steel core stuff and +P stuff.
