I am currently in Rehoboth Delaware ( Sandy is supposed to make landfall about 10 milesfrom here. I couldnt resist the photo op with my son today. Looks like the storm is already washing Sharks up on the beach,

Hope everyone is safe and stays dry. Better yet I hope none of us lose power.

As to the people in the East, not all are complaining.

http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/g...-election.html

WASHINGTON—Hurricane Sandy is expected to slam the East Coast and the federal government is shut down—but the U.S. servicemen who guard the outdoor Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery will remain on duty.

"They will not abandon their post," an employee who answered the Arlington Cemetery's phone confirmed to Yahoo News. He identified himself as "George," but was not authorized to speak on the record to the media.

The tomb, located just outside Washington, D.C., holds the remains of unidentified soldiers from World War I, World War II, Korea and Vietnam.

The elite sentinels selected to guard it have kept watch continuously at the site since 1948.

I'm watching The Weather Channel, and it's a lot more entertaining than the moronic shows on network TV...

Guys & gals out in the storm; 6 foot waves breaking behind them, in a parking lot!!!

two guys in an inflatable boat with sandbags, heading out to try to plug a breakwall...they're skimming across another parking lot...You can just see the tops of parking signs in the water...

The edge just hit here about 2 pm today (Western New York - Niagara Falls area)...Constant rain now, more forecast for the next 10 days...And wind, too, of course...

Wind + rain = downed power lines, trees blocking roadways, traffic lights out...

Oh wow - They're surfing on Lake Michigan!!!

Started lightly raining this morning, by evening raining steady - power went out at 7 PM, came back on about 820 PM / wind blowing like helly right now / expect the power to be iffy and / or trees to go down....

My Sister in-law lives in NYC and works for the NYCTA, when we talked to her last night and this morning, She was safe and at home but there is one heck of a mess there.

Stand by for the civil disorder. Some mild looting on Coney Island last night.

People are people... I hope I'm wrong. The one thing going for us is most areas near the water in NYC are relatively more affluent... there are some notable exceptions.

Just to update on conditions where I am [Niagara Falls]...

Mild winds last night; nothing really bad...this morning [7:00am], it was very mild...No wind to speak of; light mist...At 9:30am it started pouring...Torrents...I was loading my truck and got completely soaked...An hour later, back to the mist...Then about 3 hours of dry conditions, actually nice, but cloudy...

About them clouds...If you saw the Tom Cruise version of "War Of the Worlds", the clouds today looked like the clouds in the beginning of the movie...very ominous...gray clouds...

And it was weird; I could see the Toronto skyline, the tall buildings...You can only see them on clear dry days...But they were visible today...

The sky to the South was very dark; to the North [Toronto] was very light...

Very curved patterns to the clouds...

Right now [7:45pm], the epicenter is to the South of us, at the junction of Ohio & Pennsylvania...No wind here to speak of; light rain falling [sprinkling]...

The forecast here is that the light rain will continue for the rest of the week...BUT...The winds will pick up as the center passes us and the edge winds sweep over us on Thurs/Fri...

So our time will come...

BTW: Great pics/video on The Weather Channel...
