What's it Worth? (1942 Mauser Luger)
I inherited this gun from my grandfather who was in Germany during WWII. I placed my luger on the message board a couple of weeks back because I wanted to know somemore information about it. I had a good response and apprciate all the information. I am now wondering what it might be worth and was hoping someone on here could help. I have made a website with pictures along with some in formation about my gun. I was wondering if anyone could help me out with its value. I don't know that much about these guns. Thanks for any help.

It's looks very nice. You may alreay know this, but it's Mauser Banner that was used by the police. The magazine has 2 above the serial number, which means it's the second magazine. The police issused three magazines with each pistol. They were numbered 1, 2, and 3. If everything is matching, I would say about $2K.

Value
The recent edition of the STANDARD CATALOG OF MILITARY FIREARMS shows this gun in exlt condition at $2800.
A minty rig with TWO matching mags and a numbered holster would have to be worth at least $3500? I don't think I would sell it if I owned it! For insurance purposes, I would put at least $4000 on it. Orv Reichert |
