My new W+F M1906
I recently purchased this W+F M1906 made in 1922. A beautiful pistol, looks like it was made yesterday. Appears to have been fired very little. Sold as original blue finish and to my eye appears so. Inside of frame and receiver are in the white. Tip of barrel is in the white. Picture quality is the best I can do with what I have.

A beautiful pistol! The years have been extremely kind to this one, looks righteous in the pics to me. Congrats! ...and welcome to the forum.

Congratulation on your new Swiss.
Unlike German P08s Swiss Lugers have never gone to war, so it's still fairly easy to find many of them in mint or semi-mint conditions. Sergio

Hi Glen, and welcome to the forum. Congratulations on that beautiful Swiss Luger.
I really like the Swiss guns. Both the ones that DWM shipped them and the ones that they made are remarkably beautiful pistols. The quality of workmanship is high, fit and finish is outstanding. Your gun was privatized in 1956 (The "P" "56" mark on the receiver). When they were privatized, the officer (often at retirement) had the option of having the arsenal restore their gun. It can be difficult to determine if condition is original or the result of this kind of work on the Swiss Lugers. Your pistol looks excellent. I'll bet that the action feels amazing too! If you don't have a copy, try and find Vittorio Bobba's book "The Swiss Parabellum". It's very good, and also includes English text in addition to his native Italian. Maestro, as to price, check out what Simpson Ltd offers in Swiss Lugers to get an idea of retail values. Marc

Here in Italy the average price for a nice W+F 1906 would be about the equivalent of USD 2300-00

very nice gun - and it was not reblued when it was privatized in 1956. If it would had been reblued in this time, it would be black inside as well.
But you have the wrong magazine- that's a magazine for a Swiss DWM made pistol (1900 or 1900/06). The W+F magazines have no metal inlays. It should not be to difficult to find one and they are normally a little bit cheaper (at least in Switzerland)... Alexander |

I realize that the magazine is incorrect, but at least it's Swiss. The pistol appears to have been holstered very little. Just the least little bit of wear on the side of the muzzle and side plate. Very little wear on the grip safety, no wear on the grip straps. The straw is a bright golden on the takedown lever, trigger and magazine catch, while the safety lever has some wear. A bonus is no import markings. |

Really a nice gun!
It’s exactly a Parabellum “06/24”. One of 2’130 here in Bern produced guns in 1922. Congrats for that great looking piece of history. The metal side plates at the magazine are seldom too. If you compare the wooden grips between DWM and Bern products, you will recognize that Swiss grips aren’t full checkered. Regards Hunti |

Patrice,
It is "24" because that is what Fred Datig called it based on incorrect information given to him by a Swiss "authority". As much as we try to correct the designation people still persist in using the incorrect date. Ron
