As I have learned, the only gun we really need is the next one.

I know you have a wonderful collection ....and that supposed last one is a gem!

Wonderful pistol Eric. Even though (as mostly a shooter) they are not my favorite Lugers.

So, what's going to be your next one?

Eugen, I really love the one for all its history and human conflict. Lugers are the only firearm that you yourself can research and become part of it present history. A universal reminder of some epic periods of human conflict. We allow each its' luger retirement in loving and respective hands~ We can all be proud our part in its continued live and future. In our hands hold the future for others' passion and addictions yet to become bitten for which there is no cure! Eric

Nothing stupid in what you did.
The odds were in your favor.
And it was your pistol to begin with.
Also remember, Lugers are not made of glass. They are quite sturdy pistols.

Did any 1914 DWM artillery boards survive? If so, how were they marked?

You mean board stocks?

George may know of a matching one; but I would think the answer is "yes", you just can't tell a 1914 stock from a 1915 or 1916 , IMO.
