Pigskin holster needs ID'd
I saw this holster at an antique store and hoped that folks here could help identify it. There are no stampings anywhere that could see. The leather appears to be pigskin and in good condition. What origin? For what pistol? Possible date made? Is that a vintage tool? Shop keeper could not offer any information other that it was priced for $20. Your comments would be appreciated. I was tempted to buy it. I am not sure why, but I was tempted.

It's for a CZ or vz52 pistol.

bigdave, thanks for responding. I looked that CZ pistol up and it does appear that holster goes with a CZ. The listings I noticed have holsters that look very similar, but not pigskin. Is it worth $20?
I thought that given the size of the mag holder and general holster shape that it might have been for a P.38, but I am new at this game and don't know much. I spotted this holster while checking out an antique store on a return trip to IL from Asheville, NC. I had a great time in Asheville. Its cool place that I frequently visit.

It might hold the p.38 magazine, but not the gun, nor a Luger. It will only work well for the pistol it is designed for... the cleaning rod on the other hand would have multi-uses, but I don't think $20 for that cleaning rod is worth it.
Just my $0.02

I paid $3 for one of these for mine in Houston - they were in a huge surplus pile on the floor.
But, I think there is $25 of holster there, if you have one of those guns. The ammo and clip are rather long and it can be stiff fit, at first. I prefer a gun rug. |

I needed to replace the closure strap on a Luger pigskin holster. I have never seen a pigskin Luger holster with a pigskin closure strap. The Germans used cowhide for these. Pigskin is such an inferior leather it's not suitable for closures.

Yes, marble top. There were a number of nice things in that shop that were tempting.
