The 2016 Navy List
I've sent out the link to the new, improved and larger 2016 Navy List to all who have contributed to it. Mistakes happen, so if you have contributed information in the past and haven't received my email, send me a PM with your email address.

Norme, I think you should use the "manage attachment" feature and attach this data list to this thread for download by member who doesn't yet own a NAVY Luger , but may be interested in finding one, and might want to confirm the data on anything they find to the list. It will help newer collectors from considering a faked gun. Just my $0.02

Hi John,
"The Navy List" differs from most bare bones Luger data bases, that are little more than lists of serial numbers, as it attempts to describe condition and identify fakes. "1917 Navy #1234" tells you little other than that the gun exists. "1917 Navy #1234, unnumbered grips, mismatched magazine, replaced side-plate, refinished barrel & receiver" is far more helpful. To get all that extra information I have to be in direct contact with the owner via email, which is why I make sharing information conditional for receipt of the list. Of course, any prospective purchaser of a Navy Luger can contact me via PM and I will be happy to tell them what is known about that particular gun, if it is listed. Regards, Norm |

I'm not criticizing, it is your list and you're entitled to whatever conditions you deem fit, I'm just wondering if you will only send it to those you approve or if anyone can request it...

It is pretty simple,
contribute info to Norm for inclusion in the list, and you "earn" the right to participate- thus receiving the list; as he said, information is the cost of the list. His offer to assist anyone who PM's him with questions on a specific luger is more generous than many experts. Don't have a Navy luger?- scour the shops and online venues and report Navy lugers that surface to Norm with as many details as you have; more eyes finds more information!

I have a Navy numbered 4509. The sight is not dated. Can you tell me the year of production?

Does Norme now get flooded with dubious Navy info in attempts to gain access to the list?

You need to post pictures of all markings and of the pistol, just start a new thread with pictures and your question.

No letter code. Just the 4 digit number. From reading Jan Still's Imperial Lugers, it seems like a 06 Navy, but I'm not sure, As for pictures, I haven't mastered that yet. Give me time and I'll see what I can do.

Hi Joe,
I think you're right, you have a relatively early 1906 Navy made in 1907. As has been said, we can't tell more without photos although it would be interesting to know if your gun has a unit mark stamped on the rear grip strap. If you send me a PM with your email address, I'll send you the link to the Navy List. Regards, Norm |

If it's the art of photography you don't master, I can relate to that. If the problem is posting photos you've already taken and have on your computer this might help: http://forum.lugerforum.com/showthread.php?t=23172 |

Hi Joe,
I'm a little confused, in post #8 you say your Navy is #4509, in post #16 you say it's #6802. I have no information on 1906 Navy #4509, but #6802 is a listed gun. It's rear grip strap is property marked W.K./889 which means it was delivered to the naval dockyard at Kiel, home base to the Baltic fleet. It's barrel is "GERMANY" marked which means it was exported to the U.S. after the war. I'll send the Navy List link to your email address. Regards, Norm |

Navy SN 4509 is simply the top half (receiver/barrel properly marked with C/M proofs), which is currently in my collection. The 6802 is a new purchase and found on your navy List. Thanks again for sending it

So when you said "I have a Navy numbered 4509", you really meant you had some of it?

The receiver is in my opinion authentic, I just don't have the lower frame assembly. Do you know of anyone who could assist me in finding that frame or even a part of it? Thanks
