Default Importing Lugers...?

What are the ins & outs of getting a luger imported into the USA ?

I imagine it needs to go through a full FFL holder that probably has special import/export rights...

How much does bringing in an out-of-country luger into the States cost ?

How much time is usually required ?

How is insurance handled if the luger you buy and arrange for importation gets lost and never arrives at your FFL dealer ?

I see Bob Simpson advertises this service. Do some of the other luger dealers ?

Thanks for any help...

Check with Bob Simpson of Simpson LTD, he provides this service for export/import. Remember if you are not happy with a gun, you are pretty much stuck with it! Also check with Tom ([email protected]) he has a few horrow stories and can provide some additional insight into this prosedure! Thor

Hi Pete,

As my esteemed colleague Thor remarked, I have had some *interesting* experiences importing Lugers.

I will be pleased to give you the long version off list, but the short version is DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT.

Hope this helps!

Tom

I have sold a number of Lugers to USA, one to Simpson (9mm 1929 Bern) and the others have been imported by a smaller importer in Minnesota.

We never had a problem with it.

The situation for me as a exporter is that Simpson never pays until he have recieved and looked at the gun.

I have recently shipped over one luger that soon will be transferred to one of the members here, Jerry Peters.

Mind if I ask who the importer was in Minnesota? I live in the Twin Cities, so I am curious who it is. Maybe I can deal with them on some items. Thanks.
