i block commercial with grip safety

Dad and I picked this one the other day at a show.
An early .30 caliber alphabet commercial, #8591i with a grip safe, and "Gesichert" marked in the lower position. The pistol has vert c/n proofing, short frame, blank chamber, and numbered in commercial style. The pistol is in excellent condition, and all numbered match. Grips are unmarked, and mag is plain wood bottom. The pistol is one of a VERY small batch known in the i block with this style safety. I figured this one was worth sharing with the group, and reporting to Dwight for the list. John/Mike

WOW, I have never seen one like this before today. My alphabet Luger is also in the "i" series, and built 1K before yours, but it does not have the grip safety, or marked on the safety as yours. Thanx for showing this one.

nice ! I have a 30 luger . crown n 7913i that was handed down from my great grandfather.
mine does not have the grip safety.

That is indeed a unique and desirable commercial variation. The condition appears to be exceptional. I like it.

I really like this variation.
According to Bob Simpson, these were made for the Swiss commercial market.

Having the safety in the lower position makes it easier to operate IMO. Pushing up seems more natural than pulling down to get the pistol into battery.

However, the grip safety is not my favorite by any means.
