I believe you may be correct. This one has been discussed and there is a thread on it on one of the forums.

It might skate by with a "real" looking carbine stock, but with that artillery board- I'm not at all sure.

No Eric, you are wrong. This has been discussed innumerable times both here and on other forums as well. Lugers and Mausers "removed from the purview of the NFA" are legal with an original or reproduction stock as long as they are of the type originally provided with the pistol. As an example, an Artillery with a reproduction Artillery stock is ok, however an Artillery with an original Navy stock is not legal.

Thank You My Hero, Its like being back in law school. I spoke with Joe, Jr. He thanked me for my concern and was double checking. Hes a fan of our forum and holds Ron Wood in the highest esteem! We live in a healthy luger neighborhood! My lesson, if something doesn't sound right, bring it to everyones attention! Between forums we have the greatest luger experts. A carbine with an artillery stock is not "legal".

Rich has posted some references to ATF documents, but there are additional exemption letters that state that reproduction stocks of the same or essentially same design are acceptable.

The Artillery stock is not essentially the same design as a 1920 carbine stock, so the combination you started the thread with is not legal, UNLESS the barrel of the luger is 16"+.
