Lugerman 45 GAP from original Luger

Two years ago I was visiting Eugene at his shop to pick up my 9mm carbine. He was showing me his conception and some parts he had made for the 45 ACP Luger that he was making (and now selling).
His original idea was to try and make 'drop in' 45 Gap breach-block and barrels that would fit into a luger donor that a person might have. Eugene got around to thinking that was not a workable idea, as each set would need to be hand fitted and require some slight alterations of the frame and upper.
I eventually made a deal for four sets. Gave a set to Don Voigt for helping me with several projects.
At the next Allentown Show I was talking to Eugene and asked him what it would cost to have him fit and make up a 45 Gap luger for me. After some wheelin-n-dealing I traded some luger parts and cash and ended up with a deal for a 45 Gap Luger - complete
and a 45 ACP Luger - complete

Both are single shot - we discussed a magazine fed by a manual process, we talked about a auto luger, both would have cost me several thousand dollars for all the work. I decided, mainly because I was moving that I had enough invested already.

Here is the process - one frame was pretty roached (all I had) and Eugene cleaned it up very much for me.

Other two are I believe 4.5 inch and 7 inch - both have been test fired by Eugene, but not by me yet.

One thing I may change is that I'd rather that the small parts be strawed - would make them stand out - also have to be careful not to yellow them too much

45 gap was an idea to allow the 45 caliber be used in more gun mag well / grips than the longer acp

I figured one of each would be fun, although I wavered between two 45 acp guns, as 45 acp would be more saleable?

The .45 G.A.P. (often called the .45 "GAP") pistol cartridge was designed by Ernest Durham, an engineer with CCI/Speer, at the request of firearms manufacturer Glock to provide a cartridge that would equal the power of the .45 ACP, have a stronger case head to reduce the possibility of case neck blowouts, and shorter to fit in a more compact handgun. G.A.P. is an initialism for "Glock Automatic Pistol", and the .45 G.A.P. is the first commercially introduced cartridge identified with Glock.

Good on the caliber; I'm not so sure I could not get one into a Nambu.

if you decide that you want to move the GAP gun to a ACP that will be very easy to do,

Not so much the reverse.

Needs to be about 7/8" for at least 1.4 " at the chamber end, to fit contour and cut the threads; i.e. the same diameter approx. as the flange on a luger barrel.
