Default Chiang Kai-Shek Allied Victory Coin

My Grandfather served in the CBI theater during WWII. He was attached to a medical unit and made two convoy trips over the Ledo Road.
He received this coin at some point after the war ended, maybe before he shipped home, we don't know.
If I didn't have that piece of paper I would have no idea what the coin was.
I've done some searching and only found a few references to this coin on the internet, which I find odd since there must have been many thousands made.
Anyway, I was hoping someone here may have seen one of these coins before or know something more about it beyond what's written there and perhaps get an idea of the value. Thx.

Chiang Kai-shek.... if it were not because communist had a Chairman Mao, Chiang's nationalist regime must still be in mainland China today.. no other communists could handle Chiang. Core members of communist party knew that so they supported and tolerated Mao. Chiang was an old-fashioned man who played politics well, he could suppress enemies inside his own party, and he was capable of terminating the warlord era, but his nemesis was Chairman Mao. Chiang was a little bit unlucky, he became a transitional figure in Chinese history. But, who knows, everyone was a transitional figure in the country's few thousand years of history anyway.

The 2nd picture was pictured upside down. The four characters say "Victory Allies".

The letter pictured with the coin explains the markings on both sides.

The "key" figures are just decoration, but I don't know if the animals are lions, dogs or dragons. Maybe a "Pokemon" character? (The ears are too short for Pikachu )

Yes, I noticed that too after I posted the image.

Indeed, it's a pity Mao prevailed on the mainland.

Oh, no. He's not pity. In Chinese thousands years of history, there were totally 250-300 monarchs, I cannot remember the exact number. Among them, only three guys had no background. All others either inherited the position from their father/uncle/grandpa, or being senior officials in power usurped the position. No background, starting from ground zero, purely through their own effort and being successful ?? only three. Mao was the latest one.

From another angle, did Mao make Chinese miserable? It's a disputable topic even among Chinese. Some people hate him, some people love him. Personally, I felt Mao being a master of destroying old system, he's not good on building up a new system though...if he had died in 1950 instead of 1976, his image in history could be better. That's just my opinion.... live too long did not necessarily being good news for him from that viewing angle.
