Hi to all! It was awhile back, but I remember a discussion thread about current repro luger artillery rigs? Did anyone figure out what was the best of the rest?... I know there is no substitute for original, but I want a rig I can shoot! Soooo, If you have a dog in this fight, please feel free to post it here?.. best to all, til...lat'r...GT...

I have the IMA Artillery rig, and other than the price, I can't say much for it. I believe that Lugerman was marketing one, but haven't seen it.

I have an IMA set. The set assembles nicely -a little stiff, but new leather generally is. The leather seems to a little on the thick side too, but maybe that’s because it’s still very stiff. A pistol fits the holster well but that’s it. A loading tool barely squeezes into the little pocket, and it won’t latch if the loading tool is in it (way too tight.) magazines are also a very tight fit in the double pouch. The stock will latch on the a pistol, however. The cleaning rod that comes with it has an enormously large barrel and the rod is electro-plated. That said, no one will ever mistake any of this for an original.
Bottom line, if you want something to display without risking an original rig, buy this. Likewise, if you have a shooter LP.08 and want to use a stock this one is ok too. I took the leather off the stock and use it and one of your GT Special trommels with my shooter LP.08. (Truthfully though, my LP.08 shooter is probably too nice to be a shooter, but it’s also not nice enough that most folks would want it in their collection.

I can second what Bill says. Granted I don’t have any leather for mine in the first place, but GT sent me some Odin stocks to try out and one was a drop in fit for my LP.08. They work fine and after about 30 min of playing with the stock and finding its proper spot in your shoulder, it’s not uncomfortable either. It’s only 9mm so recoil is more than manageable. My LP.08 is also in that realm of “probably too nice to shoot but not nice enough for a proper collection” being an all matching Erfurt pistol, but one that’s been refinished. (with a re-straw too, it’s the one I bought from Don in the spring on here.)

I got the CMR set many years ago and tested it with an LP08. Worked perfectly.
