Ted,
You and Brian make a great team. I am constantly amazed with what Brian can do with an American Eagle crest.
Always wishing you the best,
Ron

I remember when I started I was working with a gunsmith named Bill Adair from Texas. Bill was not only bluing but he was a skilled engraver that replaced marred or corroded markings. Bill told me he built his own 400 X stereo scope to do this intricate work.
Brian Powley has been trained by French Masters and did a presentation gun for President GWB and done many of the American Pistol Guild Guns raffled off in the American Handgunner Magazine. I truly am blessed to have gotten to work with him and other skilled artisans in this craft. They amaze me.

I am wondering in the original post, that in the Luger's original condition the damage almost looks like something acidic dripped on it, perhaps blood? Any thoughts on this? Any other examples? Curious! Perhaps a blast from something hard hitting it?

I think rust was allowed to sit a long time in all those fine groves, working it's magic. Just my 2 cents worth. John
