Locking the Toggle Open
Any way to do this without using an empty magazine?

Not an easy way.
Best to use an empty magazine, it can be removed after locking the toggle open (when the pistol has a holdopen of course). |

I've watched my father lock the toggles open without a mag numerous times. Using one hand to hold the toggles open, he'd reach in with a finger and raise the hold open.
Me? I always use an empty mag. |

Yes, that would be the 'I don't mind missing a finger tip' approach. Did he shoot M1 Garands?
