Post WOW

Hey Guys,

I just got my new login and ready to post again; when time permits. I just had to post a message on the new Forums.

I do have a question; I have become very interested in the Weimar Police Lugers lately. the prices of these are very resonable and they seem to be plentiful at this time. Does anyone have any opinions as to which ones are more collectible; the Schutzpolizie or the Landspolizie stamped pistols (spelling may be off a little). These pistols are very interesting because of the variety and they seem to have most any combination of variations and still be correct.

Any thoughts from you guys to help me with this new era?

Marvin

Red face

No, sorry I don't just wanted to say HELLO Marvin, glad you made it over!

This era interests me also, I think I am leaning towards the Imperial and before, although if a Luger falls in my lap from another era

Welcome Marvin and Ed, This new format is a major improvement don't you think?

Sorry Marvin, but I can't advise you in this area of luger collecting. I like them ALL.

This moderated forum format will allow tighter controls and require absolute identification of forum participants... It also allows more control over anyone who registers and violates the decorum rules... they can be banned from posting to prevent what just happened for ever happening again.

best regards to both of you,

John Sabato

Seems like an interesting variations to collect, I do think you have better chances getting them with matching mags and better barrels than most WWI models. Their holsters and guns were probably better taken care of than WWI models and they have that pretty rust blue too. Watch for that sear rivet, it better be white steel. Thor

Hi Guys, I have a Mauser Sneak with a sear safety. I wasn't bragging, but I sure wish I could find a nice Police Luger with a sear AND magazine safety (in working order).

Cool gun Frank, hopefully you can post a picture. I am sure John will work out the details, if not send it to me and I will park it a while on my website. I LOVE THE FRANKENSTEIN ICON! Glad you made the switchover!

Cool

I have a Police that according to Still was manufactured in 1924. It has the 1920 property marking. The sear safety and magazine safety were added. The magazine safety was removed.

I bought it because it had an excellent 1929 holster and two Schmeisser magazines. I paid $900 for everthing about a year ago.

Cool

Hi gang. this new forum looks great and hopefully can move us all forward.

anyway, marvin those police lugers are interesting. i've seen a good number with unit markings and the sear safety and i actually found one with the mag safety. although i'm not sure how it works? they tend to have a lot of stamping and arsenal work from the lenght of time they served. there are a couple up for auction i believe. they holsters are what tend to be expensive. i thought i had figured out the unit markings on one of mine - but mr. still set me straight thanks jan.
