Post Question for Thor

Ted, what parts on a Luger would appropriately be 'fire blued' ?

Not Ted, but isn't it just the toggle link pins, grip screws and the mag release and sear springs.

All the leaf springs and small pins and grip screws. The only manufacturer that I know of that did the mag release in fire blue was Krieghoff. All other mag release buttons were salt blued or strawed depending on variations. Once in a while I see a Mauser with a fire blued EJECTOR.

"I believe what we have here is a failure to communicate" (or something like that). I believe Doug indicated that the mag release spring was fire blued and not the mag release itself.

I will repeat what that I have seen Krieghoff Lugers with the MAG BUTTON fire blued. We had this discussion a while back on the other forum. This is an early S date Krieg that Hugh "used" to own!! (I think he wishs he had this on back) I also have a pic of a 1943 that has the same fire blued mag button! Thorand one from Simpsons
.......BUT.......most of the pics in Kenyon's "Lugers at Random" indicate strawed buttons?

Cool

Herb, I am hopeful that some of the people that ACTUALLY own Krieghoff's will answer this question about the button. I dont have one! I have reposted this question in the Krieg section. Thor <img src="graemlins/yltype.gif" border="0" alt="[typing]" />
