Two things I see that I'd like changed. The stock lug serves no purpose and should be eliminated to provide the early smooth grip contour. The frame profile just above the trigger guard should be more rounded and not so squared off. Just my opinion, of course, but I think it would make them look nicer.

Doubs... we seldom disagree... but on the stock lug I have to...

I am sure that they will eliminate the stock lug on special order... but if someone wanted to be able to stock a Stainless Luger (paying the appropriate $200 NFA Tax) think of the work involved in ADDING a stock lug if the protrusion were not there... I imagine that if you special ordered it... the manufacturer would even finish the stock lug...

Since the simulated stock lug can be ground off by a relative amateur gunsmith and then polished to the contours you find attractive, and because there would be no refinishing required... I would not want to see the stock lug boss eliminated by the manufacturer... The stock lug boss doesn't hurt anything and it does look like the majority of the Lugers that were produced...

The two that I have ordered since 2000 both came with no stock lug bulge. I asume that is now the standard configuration. As Dwight pointed out, the area where the lug would be is well finished but is flat while the strap above it is rounded. This would indicate that it may be cast with the bulge and then latter ground off. Since the original moulds had the lug, this may be cheaper than making new moulds. High precision molds are VERY expensive to make. On the last one I bought, I had the choices of with or without grip safety and with standard flat toggles or dished toggles. I like the idea of the walnut case!

I wonder if the BATF had anything to do with the stock lug and bulge being removed?

I've always found the contour of the lug-less grip more appealing than a grip with the stock lug. Somehow, the lump that would be a lug if finished spoils the looks of the grip... to me. But, I also see your point and it was only me expressing what I would personally find more attractive. One man likes blondes while another likes redheads........

Steve, weren't the two guns you ordered the grip safety models that emulated guns without a stock lug? I don't think I can make the leap that the standard configuration is without the stock lug bump... I wish that Mr. Romo would have enough time to participate on the forum... then we might have ready answers to such questions instead of everyone just wondering...

I was not given the option of with or without the stock lug. The first one I just ordered a 6" 9mm. I was surprised when I ordered the second that I had the two choices listed above and chose to make it look similar to a model 1900.

I have invited Mr. Romo to join us and mentioned that his guns get a fair bit of discussion. I even mentioned the pictures of the carbine that were posted a while back. Let's hope that he or his son do join us.

I think I can speak for the whole forum that we would be honored to have among us the guy who is responsible for the latest resurrection of the Parabellum Pistol and it's survival into the 21st century...
