Ideal stock/holster questions

I now have in hand a belt clip for my Ideal stock/holster (thanks Tom Heller!). However, it is missing the studs/screws/rivets/whatever (actually the holes are threaded) which slip into the slots in the holster frame and allow it to be a right- or left-side holster.

Does anybody have details or, better yet, pictures of what actually goes into these holes? Um...any chance someone has a pair for sale??

There are other holes drilled in various places around this rig, besides the ones Ron Wood mentioned earlier as a lanyard tie-down. Can anyone detail what goes into them?

Dwight,

The back of your belt clip spring should look like this:

There is a tab at the bottom of the clip

That fits into a retainer on the holster

The studs on the top of the clip look like this

The two outside studs go into the holes/slots at the top of the holster and when you slide the clip down, the center stud drops into the center hole and locks the assembly in place

The whole mess ends up looking like this:

Thanks eversomuch for the tutorial, its really great work. I wondered what those little straps on the leather were for! Yours looks like a very nice rig, to boot.

I am now even more curious about the steel loop at the back end of the top telescoope rod. Yours looks like it has a small stud through it, mine is loose and has a hole there. Threaded? Stud? Inserted from the bottom? or...??

Dwight,
That small stud you see is a screw. There is a second screw just adjacent to it that I think is the original screw to secure the top rod assembly. I suspect that the original screw was worn or stripped, so a former owner added this second longer screw to keep things together and didn't bother to clip it off. It is well done and not a cobbled up job, but it is now part of the history of the holster that can only be guessed at. There is a screw missing on top of the loop bolster that secures the rod, but the bottom screw is still in place (the second one I mentioned) so the rod is still secure.

The rig is pretty good, one of the better ones I have seen, and except for what I have noted above, is very much intact and functional. The leather is in good shape, still soft with very little age cracking or flaking. Someone knew how to take care of it. The metal is worn with the blue thin and worn, but there is no rust anywhere. I have an equally good set of grips to go with it and the holster locks up firmly when attached to the grips installed on a Luger. Note, the Ideal holser may only be used with an American Eagle Luger per BATF rules!

I have been considering selling this rig, but I would have to get $2100 for it. I can post additional pictures in the for sale section if anyone is interested.

Hey Ron,

Since our good friend and master craftsman Viggo Dereng built his own reproduction of the Ideal Stock that is featured in the Member Gallery, he may have a extra screw to replace the one you have missing...(on the stock of course

) or Tom Heller may have a few parts laying around...
